Central Elementary-High School recently celebrated Read Across America Week with a variety of engaging activities designed to foster a love for reading among students. The spirited week featured themed dress-up days, special guest readers, and an exciting visit from the Kona Ice Truck to round out the festivities.
Throughout the week, students and staff participated in dress-up days inspired by beloved books and characters, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere in the school. Guest readers visited classrooms to share stories and inspire students with the joy of reading.
The highlight of the week came on Friday when the Kona Ice Truck made a special stop at the school, offering a refreshing treat to students as part of the celebration. In addition to providing a cool and delicious way to end the week, Kona Ice made a generous donation of new books to the school’s media center. The contribution will help expand the library’s collection and provide students with even more opportunities to explore new worlds through literature.
Central Elementary-High School also extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Cortez and Tiffany Peters for their charitable donation. Their generosity will make a lasting impact on students and the school community.
“Read Across America Week is an important event for our school because it encourages students to develop a lifelong love for reading,” said Keniece Adams Media Specialist at Central Elementary-High School. “We are grateful for the support of our community and partners like Kona Ice, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Peters, who help make this celebration even more special.”
The event was a great success, reinforcing the school’s commitment to literacy and education while bringing the community together in support of young readers. Central Elementary-High School looks forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come.
