Talbotton Police Department’s Easter Event Draws a Large Crowd
The Talbotton Police Department held an Easter Egg Hunt and Easter event for all the children and residents of Talbot County on Saturday, Apr. 4 and the event was well attended.

The Talbotton Police Department held an Easter Egg Hunt and Easter event for all the children and residents of Talbot County on Saturday, Apr. 4 and the event was well attended.
There were golden eggs for children to find that contained money and other prizes. Over 2,000 eggs were hidden. There was refreshment and more.
The turnout for the hunts was exceptional.
“It was an awesome experience and we want this event to continue to grow,” said Chief C.J. Biggs. “We want the community to know that we strive on giving back to our community where we work. I want to thank everyone who attended, our volunteers and those who donated”

Dogwoods Always Bloom in Early to Mid April, Why?
I was born on April 17 and, as a child, my birthday always fell the weekend of or after Easter. Then the government, in it’s infinite wisdom, decided to move Easter around every year.
Growing up on a farm you learn a lot about livestock, planting, harvesting and the seasons. If you research this I assure you what I’m about to say is accurate. The Dogwood trees always bloom from early to mid April. Usually between April 4th or 5th to around the 13th to 15th. That doesn’t change.
As a Christian, I believe in the legend of the Dogwood. Legend says the Dogwood was used for the cross that Jesus hung upon and when its blossoms it symbolizes the crucifixion.
* Striving In 2026 With High Expectations *
Greetings and blessings! As I write this Monday, it’s MLK’s federal holiday. Of course, King died fighting for equal rights, for black and white with high expectations for his fellow man, and so must we! Indeed, I fervently pray that one of our major utmost expectations this year 2026 will be striving to build a stronger and intimate relationship with God! And too, that we began anew believing the best of and in everyone we know. More so, ask God to help us to be anxious and ready to sincerely forgive and forget, like He forgives us over and over again. In doing so, it will help us have more peace and joy. Furthermore, we will enjoy the people in our lives much more than ever before.
I Question Murder Being Blamed on Gang Activity
f you are watching the news, or heard about the teens charged in the murder of a Manchester High football player, you probably have heard “gang activity.” I have to question that and I have good reason to.
Part of my job at the newspaper is covering sports for Manchester High and Central of Talbotton. As a reporter, you get to know the players. While you may not know everything about them, you do get to know a good bit about them, their character and more.
As a reporter, I’ve also had to cover the shooting murder of Daryus Bryant and the arrest of the young men from Talbotton reportedly involved in the incident. I heard, as the bond hearings got underway, suspected gang activity was mentioned. I couldn’t believe it!
