The WIOA in-school youth program is designed to support juniors and seniors by providing structured career exploration, employability skills training, and real-world learning opportunities. While employers may benefit from the activities performed by participating students, the primary focus of the program is student development and career readiness rather than employer gain.
The program remains open to eligible students who are interested in exploring career pathways while developing essential workplace skills such as responsibility, communication, and professionalism.
Students and parents seeking additional information or wishing to apply are encouraged to contact James Carter, the school’s Work-Based Learning Coordinator.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act was signed into law on July 22, 2014. The legislation was created to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services needed to succeed in today’s labor market, while also assisting employers in finding skilled workers. Passed with strong bipartisan support, WIOA marked the first major reform of the public workforce system since 1998.
